Art Class

(first layers)

I am busy in my art room finishing up the last touches on my
2014 Mandala for Misty Mawn's class Full Circle.

I took her class last year online and in person...
She is a wonderful teacher and I love this class!

I thought I might share the progression as I worked....

adding collage elements...

It is bold of me to use all these colors!
and to just put stuff down, where ever I felt like it...

looking pretty messy!
but I am liking it here and there...

Different elements of my life began to show up on the paper...

A little bit more here...and there....

and a bit more....lol!

My daughter came in the room and said "Wow, that is happy!"
I'll take happy!
Thank you Sarah!

Here I am getting worried, too white...too busy....no..... too ???
(let it go.....let it go...it is what it is...just keep on keeping on.....)

Working over a few days,
these doodles and what nots did open my eyes
and give me a few Aha moments about my life!

Lots of stuff in here...

It is hard to know when enough is enough....

 o.k. maybe a little more...

and a little more...and I think she might be done : )

I feel like I learned so much!
"Just keep going and trust" was my biggest lesson.
It was a Truly enjoyable experience!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
I hope you are having a great Saturday!

Hugs,
Terri

WOW, Terri- it sure IS a happy art piece!

You know me - I live in a colourless ivory beige brown black and white universe, so seeing your colour is quite refreshing.

Stay warm and enjoy your weekend.

Hugs.

Your colorful upbeat collage type painting turned out beautiful. I like the butterfly at the center and lots of the other little touches.

wow Terri!! First of all I would never have recognized this piece as being yours-you have truly stepped out of your comfort zone with the colors and all those luscious layers. It truly is a very happy canvas! And secondly I commend you for not listening to your inner critic and for adding and adding so much -you can be very proud my friend!

"Just keep going and trust" is what I retained from it, Terri, after I clicked on the comment. I also remember you had love in it which is always a good thing in the times we live in. It must have been a very liberating project to work on! Thank you so much for sharing it! Now I feel like getting my old, cracked paints out and fiddling around with a brush. My problem is that I just do not allow myself any time at all to do things that would satisfy my great need for self-expression and that's why I always have to endure this nagging feeling that I carry around with me constantly!

I'm SO impressed at your piece!
The first photo made me say 'this is not Terri's colors'.........but as you progressed through the different stages, you made it your own. Each element added was a layer of YOU! I adore what you've made Terri.

Oh Terri, it's AMAZING!! My jaw has dropped! It's so happy, and colorful, and just so beautiful!
I was just thinking tonight that I missed your posts, and how you haven't posted for a long time. Then after checking it out, I discovered that somehow, your blog was gone from my bloglovin' reader.
Glad I found you again!

Oh! I love this mixed media mandala. I signed up for a T.A.P. (Traveling Art Project)on 'the trodden path' ning sight with Joyce Van der Ley, it's a 12 month project which gets sent for one month to a person who adds their own design to the canvas and then they pass it on to the next person. At the end, Joyce gets to keep it :( but she also takes a photo and the twelve participants are sent a print of the canvas...Yay! You are giving me some vibrant ideas as to what I can add to the canvas (my own original design of course) when the time comes for me to add my artistic endeavor. I had thought of adding a butterfly for sure and flowers too.

Your mixed media mandala couldn't be better, Terri! All the details are so lovely and allow the eye to wander around and around. Just perfect!
